Straight Hair Problems
It’s been less than a week since I had my hair professionally highlighted and pressed but it’s official…I miss my curls!!
Typically straight hair is fun for me for about a week, then I tend to get bored. I’ve been trying to get a little creative with my straight hair but my stylist did such an incredible job on my press that my hair is too silky and straight to hold a style!
I started Tuesday with a nice side flat twist but by lunch it just refused to stay!
This whole plan of keeping my hair straight for two weeks is starting to go down hill. I’ll keep you guys posted! In the mean time here’s a look at my straight hair this week. Rolling with a simple low pony today.

New Product Fun
It’s been a while since I tried any new products so I decided to stop and picked up a few newbies.
As most of you know I am in love with almost all of the Cantu products I’ve tried, so when I spotted the new Coconut Curling Creme and Daily Oil Moisturizer I had to scoop those up.
I also spotted a new product from the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale line called Anti-breakage Super Softening Hair Butter. However, after researching it a bit further it’s actually more ideal for transitioning hair. So, I think I’ll pass it along to my sister who I’m super excited to say has decided to start her transition to the world of kinks and curls!
Stay tuned to see how these guys work out!

Edges that lay & stay!
I’ve been getting a lot of questions and seeing quite a few posts on how to get those curly edges to lay down when you’re trying to achieve a nice sleek and more tamed look. Some have tried various options to no avail. So, here’s how I get my edges to lay down and stay down
I take a new soft bristle toothbrush dip it into my holy Grail Eco Styler Gel with Olive or Aragan Oil and brush my edges. I typically do this on damp hair but it works just as well on dry hair.
After I’ve gotten my edges laid down nice and neat I take a satin scarf and tie it securely around my hair. This allows the style to set. I leave the scarf in place for at least 15 minutes and pow! That’s all it takes. And I get great results every time!
Today’s hair creation
I would never in a million years consider myself a hair stylist. I just don’t have the skill sets. But, it amazes me how much I’ve truly grown to enjoy styling my natural hair! Inspiring others to embrace their curls and try out different style ideas to uncover the versatility of their tresses has really become a passion of mine.
IN LOVE with today’s creation. This is just a bun that I did three loose chunky twists on and pined them down to the side. I topped it off with a side pompadour ❤
Happy Friday Beauties!
Defiant hair days
There are days when I really want to achieve a certain look and my hair just does NOT want to cooperate. I’m sure we’ve all been there and frankly it can be down right frustrating…if you let it get to that point. Well, before I allow myself to get too worked up over my defiant hair I remind myself that, I am natural! And no matter what state my hair is in as long as it has some type of moisturizer in it, I’ll just throw some water in it, shake my head up and down and side to side and keep it stepping!
Wouldn’t you know that it’s those days when my hair does absolutely whatever it wants that I end up loving my hair the most. Here are some prime examples of my defiant hair at its best.
I guess sometimes we’ve just got to learn to trust our curls!
