A Flat Twist & Facebeat

This combination is great for weekends! Sunday I decided to roll with this combo for our first BBQ since moving to ATL. I pulled together two great colors and got this look! The shadow is from my BH Cosmetics 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette and the lipstick is VaVa Violet by Revlon.

Staple Beauty Products

Hi beauties!

I hope you all had an awesome weekend. I wanted to do a post about my staple beauty products. These are the products I use pretty much on an every day basis that I’m really loving right now.

Maybelline Dream a Liquid Mousse

This is my foundation preference lately. It provides great coverage and isn’t really heavy.

After about two coats this waterproof mascara really gives me great length and volume.

I absolutely love this palett! The colors are beautiful and so versatile. The only thing it’s missing is a contour pod.

I think that about covers it! What are some of your everyday staple beauty products?

NYX Love

I’ve fallen in love! I purchased the NYX Mineral Matte Finishing Powder a couple of weeks ago and I am so glad I did. This stuff is amazing! The finish that it gives my final look is so fresh. I new I had come across something special when even my husband noticed a difference. He loves it too and he prefers a more natural look. Yep! This is definitely a new staple.

Here are some pics from today. Totally fresh faced with no filter. Sported a wash and go today too! It’s been a while since I did one. Totally forgot how much I love them.

A Twisted Bun & Purple Face Beat

Even in spring I can’t escape my love for dark lips! Here’s today’s hair and makeup. A twisted high bun with purple tones. I have Revlon’s VaVa Violet and Berry Haute mixed on my lips, my shadow is from one of my BH Cosmetics pallets and earrings are from the World Natural Hair Show I attended this weekend.

Instagram Identity CHRISTless

I think we can all agree that there’s no shortage of beautiful people on Instagram. Whether their interest is in fashion, fitness, beauty, art or maybe a funky eclectic look at life in general, you can’t deny them. They are there, the beauties of the world. A challenge comes however, when you fail to recognize yourself as one of those beautiful people. When you are fooled into believing that the body, head of hair or face that you are envying is perfect. When you discount yourself, your beauty, your physical attributes or even your hustle! When you let the fact that you are a complete bad ass grinding every day fall by the waste side because you’ve determined that based on some random photo uploaded to an application called Instagram, you aren’t good enough. This, my friends is a direct byproduct of not knowing who you are in Christ.

As an extremely visual person I happen to really enjoy Instagram. I seriously believe the application was made for people like me. From a health, beauty, hair and makeup perspective its focus on imagery and photography inspires me every day. Whether the photos have been extraordinarily altered or not this app never fails to give me ideas that get my creative juices flowing. Much like most other Medias however, there’s another side of Instagram that seems to be challenging the self-esteem and self-worth of many individuals around the world. The answer to this identity struggle, this lack of confidence, is to build a relationship with Christ.

Once you get to know Him, how absolutely beautiful He formed you and how beautiful you still are despite what you’ve been through, then you can begin to appreciate His other creations without feeling inferior. When you grow to understand that you were fearfully and wonderfully made and discover who God has called you to be, no one can make you feel anything less than what you are, royalty.

Behind My Face Transformation

My husband has always said that he loves my smile, that my face completely transforms when the sides of my mouth curve up. Frankly, I never really knew what to make of that. Did that mean that my every day “I’m just chillin” kinda face isn’t as appealing. Women have a tendency to overthink things and there’s no doubt that this has been one of those overthought topics for me.

Needless to say, I’ve spent a lot of time comparing numerous smiling photos to non smiling photos trying to figure it out. Maybe it’s my eyes. I’ve always had big eyes and they tend to appear smaller when I smile. Maybe it’s the subtle hint of dimples that occur when I smile, or the nearly perfect teeth that spent 3 years in braces. Maybe it’s that.

After going through all of the major and minor differences I finally realized that the true appeal in my smile is found in what lives behind it. Not just the simple feeling of being happy. Don’t get me wrong, happiness is great. But, happiness is only predicated on what happens. It’s more than that. It’s joy. And joy only comes from one entity. Holy Spirit. So now, I do my best to smile a little bit more each day in hopes of sharing The Comforter with someone else who may truly need comforting. In case you happen to be that someone today, this smile is for you.
