This combination is great for weekends! Sunday I decided to roll with this combo for our first BBQ since moving to ATL. I pulled together two great colors and got this look! The shadow is from my BH Cosmetics 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette and the lipstick is VaVa Violet by Revlon.
Faux Bangs
Big Beautiful Waves
Last night I had a bit of free time and decided to set my hair in 5 chunky flat twists using Dark & Lovely’s Au Naturale Super Softening Hair Butter. This is the first time I’ve tried a flat twist out and I absolutely love the results! I didn’t do much for styling, pretty much just unraveled the twists.
This style is great for fall when the humidity is low. We’re not quite there in Atlanta so I’ll be staying inside today :o)

Crazy For Cobalt
Hi beauties!
Today, the fam and I attended a BBQ which I honestly wasn’t looking forward to mainly because I had so much to do around the house. Fortunately, it actually turned out to be a really nice time.
To help get some pep in my step I decided to go with my favorite color as part of the OOTD, cobalt! I paired a pink maxi skirt with my “I am a woman of God” cobalt tee that I cropped on my own. I also decided to color my nails in SinfulColors “Endless Blue”. Love it!
As for my hair I haven’t yet loosed my curly fro at work so it’s pretty much become my go to style on the weekend. Today was no exception. Here are some pics
Spotted Myself on Essence Online!
Yep! Pretty much made my week. What a surprise it was to spot myself on Essence.com! Two of my Instagram posts made the cut for their EssenceHair page. You can check them out here along with some other great naturalistas.
Shout out to this great publication for keeping pace with the natural hair movement.
A Chunky Flat Twist & Bun
Hope you all are doing great. I’ve got that natural hair style new new on deck today!
Decided to try out a new style and I’m seriously digging it. This is a simple chunky flat twist and bun. It’s great for work or to keep your hair up and out of the way on weekends.
Here’s a brief how-to:
First I separated out some hair in the front (this is typically how I start most of my styles). Then I flat twisted that chunk of hair to the left side. I pulled the rest of my hair into a bun and pulled the flat twist back and pinned it close and snug to the bun. That’s it!

Texture & Curls
Hi beauties!
After a long weekend visiting family and celebrating my 7 year wedding anniversary in Tampa I’m behind on blog posts. Here’s some major texture and curls from the weekend to help get me back on track.
I achieved this look with Shea Moisture Curl & Style Milk and Eco Styler Gel with Olive Oil.
Flat Ironed Natural Hair – A Look Back
I was going through some old pics and could’t help but feel extremely proud of my natural hair journey. For the past 3 1/2 years I have embraced my natural hair texture and it has truly paid off. My hair is more healthy than it has ever been and the growth has been incredible!
Here’s a look back over the past 3 years at the various times during my journey that I’ve flat ironed my hair to see my growth progression.

About Today’s Hair
And well…there’s really not a whole lot to tell. Today I decided on a simple twist out bun. I set this style with Eco Styler Gell last night. After deep conditioning a pulled my hair into a high ponytail and made several medium size twists using Eco Styler Gel. This morning I unravelled the twists and tucked the ends under securing them with a few bobby pins. That’s it! Really love the results.
Big Chop Part II?
So, I’m a bit unsure of how much I really care but it looks like I’m back at bra strap length since my much needed trim back in March. Hair growth is generally a great thing to me but I’ve been very seriously considering big chop part II.
I think I’m just at that point in my natural hair journey where length just isn’t as important as it once was. These days I care more about hair health and the shape and overall look of a cut or style. I guess we’ll see how much longer it will take before I become fully committed to the idea of chopping my hair off. Stay tuned!
In the mean time here’s a pic of my random length check.
