Hi beauties!
Today I went with a classic look and tried out some faux bangs for the first time. I didn’t want the complete retro style so I swept them to the side but I think I really like it. What do you think?
Hope you all are doing great. I’ve got that natural hair style new new on deck today!
Decided to try out a new style and I’m seriously digging it. This is a simple chunky flat twist and bun. It’s great for work or to keep your hair up and out of the way on weekends.
Here’s a brief how-to:
First I separated out some hair in the front (this is typically how I start most of my styles). Then I flat twisted that chunk of hair to the left side. I pulled the rest of my hair into a bun and pulled the flat twist back and pinned it close and snug to the bun. That’s it!
Here are some pics
On the natural hair style menu today we have a simple updo with a little twist out definition up front.
Just after posting a blog entry about saving time by not setting my hair at night anymore I decided to test my theory again. Yep! It’s still true.
I spent about twenty minutes last night twisting my hair. I did some smaller twists up front and chunky twists in the back.
This morning I get up and got to work on trying to figure out how to style this mane of mine. After about 25 minutes of playing with different ideas I finally find one I’m happy with. Here’s the final look today and the step by step:
To achieve this look I set my hair the night before with about twelve small twists in the front and eight chunky twists in the back. I used Shea Moisture Curl & Style milk and Eco Styler gel for the twists.
In the morning I unraveled all of the twists. I separated the chunky twists started on the right side and twisted/tucked the hair up and around. Then I placed a few bobby pins to secure the hair. The front smaller twists were swooped to the side and secured with a bobby pin. That’s it!
While I truly love the final look I think I’ll reserve setting my hair at night for just a few times a month when I’m craving curl definition. Other than that I think I’ll keep my half hour at night and spend it with this little guy ❤
I have been craving for a trip to Walgreens so I finally make the trip today and what do I find?! Shea Moisture products on sale by one get one free!! Unfortunately for me they were all out of the curl milk. So…I’ll be off to another Walgreens until I find it and can take advantage of this awesome sale.

After being slightly disappointed I made a stop at CVS and picked up this
NYX matte lip gloss.
I’ve been wanting to try it out and I’m glad I did. I have mixed feelings about the color but I love the concept of matte lip gloss. I’ll definitely try more colors. Here are some pics.
I sure hope you guys aren’t getting tired of seeing these twisted updo’s ’cause there’s a lot more to come!! Lol!
Here’s how I got yesterday’s brand new look…
First I took a medium size section from the front and made a loose chunky twist to the left side. I pulled the rest of my hair into a ponytail. I split the ponytail into three sections and twisted each section loosely. I pinned down each section of the ponytail and pulled the front twist back and pinned it on the right side of the bun.
That’s it! Easy and professional yet fun and protective.
It’s Saturday Loves!
I hope you all are having a great day. After my workout this morning I took a shower, rinsed my hair and put it in about 10 fairly chunky twists using Shea Moisture Curly Hair Milk. After some Saturday cleaning I unraveled the twists and separated them until POW! Massive mane achieved!
Soooo…after unraveling my twists, which took about two hours, washing my hair with Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo and conditioning with their Restorative Conditioner, it was back to the bun life today!
I must admit, I miss the twists but a twisted bun never gets old. Here are some pics from today and last night post unraveling but pre wash.
Hope everyone had an awesome day!
So…I tried a couple of new styles last week but just didn’t think that they were worthy of a blog post. I always try to be as innovative and inspirational as I possibly can and at the time they just seemed under par for me.
Now in retrospect as I sit here and look back through my pics I’m thinking that maybe I was wrong . I’ll let you guys be the judge. Hope they inspire someone!
The first style is a twist updo and bun and the other is my first attempt at a full flat twist around my head. Obviously I wasn’t overly pleased but I’ll definitely try it again!
Well, that’s it for now loves!
