10 Minute Flat Twist Up-do Tutorial

Good morning loves!!

Since I straightened my hair last week I’ve been having a ton of fun creating some unique styles. I’m going to do a recap of all of them but today I wanted to focus on the look from yesterday.

This style got a lot of attention yesterday and there were several requests for a tutorial. I’ve been wanting to start my YouTube Chanel back up so I thought this would be a great opportunity! Please keep in mind that this is my first video in over a year so bare with me as I get back into the swing of things.

Please subscribe to my channel and let me know what other looks you’d like to see tutorials on. Here are a couple more pics of the style and the link to the video tutorial. Enjoy!

The Almost Infinity Twist

Hello loves!!

I’ve got some major catching up to do on blog posts but I just wanted to show you all my hair of the day.

I straightened my hair earlier this week so that I could trim my ends and so I’ve been playing with some styles . Today I went with this…

It reminds me a lot of an infinity braid or twist which I love but this is nothing more than two flat twists. I separated my hair into two fairly equal sections. For the front section I flat twisted all if the hair to the left side. And for the back I did the same thing. Lastly I tucked the end of the front flat twist inside the flat twist in the back, and I tucked the end of the back flat twist inside the front one. Here are some more pics!

P.S. I get my iPhone 6 Plus next week so videos coming soon!

About Today’s Hair

Good morning loves!

Today I’ve got a new twisted updo that is giving me so much life!! Probably one of my favorites yet. So here are the deets on how I got the look

1. First I started with dry stretched hair.
2. I moisturized my hair with Carols Daughter Hair Milk.
3. I separated a medium size section in the front of my hair and did a fairly secured twist forward and to the left.
4. I then separated out another 3 sections twisting them all forward and to the left until I ended up here:

5. Then, starting with the twist in the back I pulled the twist forward and bobby pinned it up under the twist in front of it. I repeated this for the next twisted section.
6. When I got to the two front twists I just pulled them to the side and tucked the ends under the twist behind them and secured them with a bobby pin.

Here’s the final look. What do you think?

World Natural Hair Show HOTD

This past weekend I attended the Taliah Waajid World Natural Hair Show.  This was my second time attending with my first being back in May of this year so I figured I new what to expect.  I was hoping to network with some of the bigger brands to discuss possible sponsorships for some things I have planned for the Curly Christians brand.  To my surprise the vendor attendance was nothing like it was in May.  It was much smaller so unfortunately I didn’t do much networking. I did however attend the Naturals After Dark Fashion Show which was great!  There were some talented fashion designers and very cool entertainment.

As for my hair of the day for the event, I decided on a twisted updo which turned out to be probably my most elaborate style yet!  I LOVED it and so did a lot of other naturalistas.  Its a total of 6 twists. Not super tough but not something I’d put together during the work week either. Here are some pics

Today’s Hair: How To

Good morning loves!

I’ve gotten a lot of requests for a “how to” on today’s hair. If you’re a visual learner like me I first want to say YouTube videos will be coming soon! Promise. In the mean time try to use your imagination along with the final result pics.

Ok, here’s how I did it:

1. I started with stretched hair and prepped using Shea Moisture’s Style & Curl Milk.

2. Because I’m still so in love with my undercut I started by brushing all of my hair to the left side of my head, and in the back I began tucking my hair under starting from right to left.

3. When I got around by my left ear I stopped tucking and secured my hair with three bobby pins.

4. For the large section that was still out in the front I smoothed all of the hair down and began to flat twist my hair back using large sections. With each twist I grabbed another large section of hair and continued doing this until there was no hair left.

5. Lastly, I took the end of my flat twist and tucked it up securing it with a bobby pin.

That’s it. I promise it is much easier than it looks! Here are some pics.

Purple, Boots & Blowout

Happy Saturday!

Hope you guys are having a great weekend.

I very rarely apply heat to my hair but today I decided to blow out my hair. I started with dry hair. I used Cream Of Nature’s Aragan Oil leave-in Conditioner and I also used Cantu’s Daily Moisturizer as a heat protectant. I sectioned my hair into 4 and applied the leave-in followed by the moisturizer and blew each section on low heat.

In the mood for some deep dark hues I thought I’d pull out the perfect fall color, purple and pair it up with my flat black lace up boots! The lips are Pagan Angel from Fergie’s Wet N’ Wild line.

Last Week’s Hair Recap

Hi beauties!

Another crazy week! But I wanted to give you guys a recap of my natural hairstyles from the week. Let’s jump right in.

This first was definitely the most popular style of the week. I got a lot of positive feedback on this one with interest on how I created the look. Think I’ll pull this one out and do a separate post with deets so stay tuned. To sum it up its a pompadour twist with a twisted bun.

This next style is a simple flat twist and a twisted bun. Loved this look.

Next look is three twisted buns with a lot if dimension. It looks complex but is super simple.

Up next, a pompadour and puff. This was a little different for me but I really like the way it turned out! Here’s a look at how I paired it up too.

And the last look of the week is actually my favorite. I pulled a twist forward and paired it with a high bun.
Love!
