Today’s Hair: How To

Good morning loves!

I’ve gotten a lot of requests for a “how to” on today’s hair. If you’re a visual learner like me I first want to say YouTube videos will be coming soon! Promise. In the mean time try to use your imagination along with the final result pics.

Ok, here’s how I did it:

1. I started with stretched hair and prepped using Shea Moisture’s Style & Curl Milk.

2. Because I’m still so in love with my undercut I started by brushing all of my hair to the left side of my head, and in the back I began tucking my hair under starting from right to left.

3. When I got around by my left ear I stopped tucking and secured my hair with three bobby pins.

4. For the large section that was still out in the front I smoothed all of the hair down and began to flat twist my hair back using large sections. With each twist I grabbed another large section of hair and continued doing this until there was no hair left.

5. Lastly, I took the end of my flat twist and tucked it up securing it with a bobby pin.

That’s it. I promise it is much easier than it looks! Here are some pics.

Purple, Boots & Blowout

Happy Saturday!

Hope you guys are having a great weekend.

I very rarely apply heat to my hair but today I decided to blow out my hair. I started with dry hair. I used Cream Of Nature’s Aragan Oil leave-in Conditioner and I also used Cantu’s Daily Moisturizer as a heat protectant. I sectioned my hair into 4 and applied the leave-in followed by the moisturizer and blew each section on low heat.

In the mood for some deep dark hues I thought I’d pull out the perfect fall color, purple and pair it up with my flat black lace up boots! The lips are Pagan Angel from Fergie’s Wet N’ Wild line.

Last Week’s Hair Recap

Hi beauties!

Another crazy week! But I wanted to give you guys a recap of my natural hairstyles from the week. Let’s jump right in.

This first was definitely the most popular style of the week. I got a lot of positive feedback on this one with interest on how I created the look. Think I’ll pull this one out and do a separate post with deets so stay tuned. To sum it up its a pompadour twist with a twisted bun.

This next style is a simple flat twist and a twisted bun. Loved this look.

Next look is three twisted buns with a lot if dimension. It looks complex but is super simple.

Up next, a pompadour and puff. This was a little different for me but I really like the way it turned out! Here’s a look at how I paired it up too.

And the last look of the week is actually my favorite. I pulled a twist forward and paired it with a high bun.
Love!

Classic Bun

Hellooo loves!

I hope you all are having a great weekend. Last week I wore a few different classic looks and here’s another I wanted to share.I gave you all a peek at this look in my Wet ‘N Wild MegaLast post, but wanted to give you the deets.

This is a really classic looking bun that I achieved by pulling all of my hair into a super high ponytail. I smoothed all of the hair together and forward, twisted the ends and tucked them under. I secured them with a bobby pin and that was it. Definitely enjoyed this look.

Sleek Faux Bob

So I decided to take a shot at a faux bob today. I had twisted my hair in about 6 chunky twists last night, pulled them back into a ponytail and banded the ponytail so my hair was already nice and stretched this morning.

From there I smoothed all of the hair down with my Denman brush and began to tuck it under. The hardest part about achieving this style is not having any hair to secure the bobby pins to. Because of my undercut I had to use several bobby pins to get the hair to stay tucked under. I was hoping to achieve a neck length bob but I got as close as I could.

Here are the final results. What do you think? Oh and in case you’re wondering, the lippie is VaVa Violet by Revlon. One of my fall favs!

Midnight Flexi Rod Set

Around 12:30am after some movie watching with hubby, I spontaneously decided to test out the flexi rods I bought on Friday.

I bought two different diameter sizes 7/8″ and 6/8″ both 10″ long. To set the style I used the Shea Moisture Curling Gel Soufflé.

I’ve heard that flexi rod sets work best on soaking wet hair but I knew they wouldn’t have enough time to dry if I did that, so I just applied them on damp hair.

I slept with my satin bonnet but as I’m sure you can imagine flexi rods are no fun to sleep on. But, they’re no worse than bantu knots. I kept the rods in until about 11:30am this morning. I unravelled them to find beautiful definition on hair that was unfortunately still slightly damp.

Although the definition only lasted for a few hours there is no doubt that this style has the potential to be amazing! Next time, I’ll be sure to plan my rod set and assure that they have plenty of time to dry.

Have a great day loves!

Two Chunky Twists, That’s It!

Good morning loves!!

Most of my styles are fairly easy to do and take no more than 15-20 minutes. Well today’s look was even easier and took 10 minutes tops! I used Shea Moisture Curl & Style Milk to prep. Here’s how I did it:

I separated my hair into two ponytails. One on the top and one on the bottom.

I very loosely twisted each ponytail. This creates more dimension and depth for the style.

I secured the big chunky twist on the top to the right side of the second ponytail with a bobby pin.

For the chunky twist on the bottom I pinned it up to the left side of the ponytail on the top.

Super simple! Two chunky twists, that’s it!

Shea Moisture Curling Gel Soufflé

Good morning loves!

Last night I decided to try out Shea Moisture’s Curling Gel Soufflé. I love all of the She’s Moisture products I’ve tried so I was excited to use this new product.

For a gel it definitely isn’t heavy. It feels more water based than a typical gel and seemed to act more like a moisturizing agent.

I twisted my hair in medium size twists using the Curling Gel Soufflé and then loosely pin curled each twist.

20140930-082222.jpg

I unraveled the pin curls and twists in the morning and gently separated the twists. My hair was definitely well moisturized which was great. After I was done styling I did have a sticky residue on my hands but I’d say that’s pretty typical of any gel.

For the look I of course pinned up the back to have a view of the undercut, but I left a large section on the left side out. My hair is full and fairly defined. Overall I really like the look. I’ll definitely try the Curling Gel Soufflé again for another style. Here are some pics of the final look. What do you think?
