Alikay Twist Out

Hey lovelies!

Last month I had the pleasure of shopping the curlBOX office at their holiday party. Two of the products I snatched up were these products from the Aalikay Naturals line

I had never tried this brand before so I was excited to have them gifted to me.

This weekend I decided to give them both a try. I used the Honey And Sage Deep Conditioner to both cleanse and condition my hair.

Let me just say, this stuff right here is amazing! The thing that really won me over with this product is that when I was done and my hair was soaking wet, I went to squeeze my hair of the excess water and there was nothing, NOTHING!! My hair had soaked up all of the water! Talk about moisture retention! I have never had a product allow my hair to do that.

Once my hair was clean and conditioned I applied the Moisture Rich Hair Parfait to set my twist out and hopefully seal in all that water.

This product is nice and thick! I applied it to all of my hair and twisted it

In the morning my hair was FULL of moisture, and the definition was everything!

I have no idea what took me so long to try this product line, but I will definitely be trying more.
That’s it for now.

XOXO,

~TJ

November curlBOX Test Drive

Hi luvs!

So this weekend I decided to take my November curlBOX products for a test drive.

Super excited to play with some all new Cantu products, I dove in. I started by using the Co-Wash to cleanse my hair. Next I applied the Dry Deny to my hair which is suppose to help lock in moisture. Then I applied the Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream using the shingling method to help my curls pop. Lastly I applied the Wave Whip Curling Mousse. That did something very unexpected. It turned my hair white!

I was a bit concerned about this. However, once my hair dried I ended up with the softest curls ever! Look at these curls.

Not that I doubted it but curlBOX came through again with some amazing products. If you’re not subscribed GET ON THE LIST
XOXO

SCANDA-LICIOUS

Hi lovelies!

So….yesterday was all kinds of awesome.  From the voluptuous braid out to the major pop on my lips.  I was totally feeling the entire look.  It was appreciated by a lot of my social family and so I wanted to give you guys the deets on this amazing look!

First, the hair.  Oh, the hair.  This look was achieved using products from the Creme of Nature Argan Oil from Morocco line.  What products exactly? Well…these:

  1. Pure-licious Co-wash
  2. Butter-licious Curls Curl Hydrating Creme
  3. Twirling Custard Curl Styling Gel
  4. 100% Pure Argan Oil

Together these products gave me this super moisturized elongated braid out!

I absolutely adore this complete line of products.  There will definitely be more styles to come using this line.

Now…the beat…specifically the lips.  This lippie got so much love yesterday.  So, here’s what I used

  1. Jordan Blue Devine Pencil (which is really an eye liner but worked perfectly on my lips)
  2. NYX Cosmetics Wicked Lipstick in the color Scandalous

This combination was EVERYTHING!

Well…that’s it for now. Until next time lovelies

XOXO

Twisted Updo Tutorial

Morning lovelies!

Today I’ve got a video tutorial for a twisted updo. This look was the #1 voted style from the week that I wore it.

The prep and style time took me about 7 minutes total!

The product I used to get this original look was from the June curlBOX. It’s the Sacred Tiare Styling Creme. This product was nice and thick and offered great shine. It also helped to control my frizz which helped the style look nice and neat. I didn’t use the product in the re-creation video tutorial as its focused on the methodology of how I achieved the style.

Muuahhhh!

Hydrate + Repair Aragan Oil Line

Hi beauties!

This weekend I tried out another product line that OGX Beauty sent me. My last product trial was of their Quenching Coconut Curls line. You can check out that review here if you missed it. This weekend I decided to try out the Hydrate + Repair Aragan Oil line.

I have to admit that I wasn’t as excited to try these products as I was with the coconut curls line. I’ve tried a slew of aragan oil products so I honestly didn’t expect anything outrageously different.

I started off with the shampoo which I’m always a bit reluctant about because of the whole sulfate issue. This particular product offered the biggest surprise of the three I tried. Typically after I rinse shampoo out of my hair my hair feels dry. NOT the case with this shampoo! My hair didn’t feel dry at all which was a very pleasant surprise. It felt even better than it did with the coconut curls shampoo.

I followed it up with the conditioner which was pretty much what I expected. It coated my hair nicely and made my hair feel very soft.  It’s hard to go wrong with an aragan oil based conditioner.

After that I decided to two strand twist my hair with the hair butter. I wondered how this product would differ from the coconut curls hair butter. The consistency is quite different surprisingly. The Aragan oil hair butter has a thicker consistency than the coconut curls hair butter which is much looser and seems to contain more liquid or moisture to it.

Here’s a look at my twists and my twist out results

Overall I enjoyed the hydrate & repair aragan oil line. The only product I’d say I was especially  surprised with was the shampoo.

In comparing the coconut curls line with the aragan oil line my preference is definitely with the coconut curls line. These products just seem to house more moisture which is key for me.

I had a great time trying out these OGX Beauty products! Have you tried these products? What’s your preference.
